Tyler Florence's Scalloped Potato Gratin


This is definitely my FAVORITE potato dish ever! The picture above is from the Food Network website...i have made this dish twice and i forgot to take a picture before we dug into it! It is very rich and full of flavor, you MUST try this dish, its DELICIOUS!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 C Heavy Cream
1 sprig fresh Thyme
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 nutmeg
Butter to coat baking dish
2 pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and sliced to 1/8 in. thick slices
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 C fresh grated Parmesan Cheese

Preperation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter baking dish and set aside. In a saucepan, heat cream with thyme, garlic and nutmeg. Layer sliced poatoes, cream mixture and cheese as if you were making lasagna. You should come out with 3 or 4 layers of potatoes, then top with parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
