"No Pigs Out Tonight"

This month celebrates National Pretzel Day and National Pigs in a Blanket Day. So, why not combine these two great foods and have some fun while making it. I gave some of the dough to my little girl to make her own little design with the pretzel dough while I made these tasty pretzel dogs. I used Turkey dogs for this recipe although, I wouldn't recommend it now that I have made both all beef and turkey. The all beef or even the sausage dogs are the best when they are wrapped in pretzel dough. We like to dip ours in a little ketchup and mustard although me little girl will just eat them plain. So, have some fun, play around, and enjoy a good bit at the same time.
Recipe for Pretzel Dough:
1 1/2 c. Very Hot Water
4 to 4 1/2 cups of flour
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
1 packet of dry active yeast
1 egg yoke
1/2 tablespoon of water
Kosher Salt
Mix 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt together. Add hot water and mix together with hands. Add 2 additional cups of flour and 1/2 cup extra as needed. Knead dough well until you can form a ball.
Cut dough into 10-12 pieces. Take each piece and roll it out like in a long strip.

Take each strip and wrap around hot dogs or into pretzel shapes.

The dough should go all around a regular sized dog, if not just connect a little extra if you have some.

Take one egg yoke and beat it with 1/2 tablespoon of water until well mixed. Brush all over pretzel dough. Sprinkle Kosher salt over dough if desired.

Bake on a greased foiled cookie sheet in a preheated oven @ 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

I either brush melted butter or spray butter all over before eating.
Has anyone tried the all beef or sausage pretzel dogs?
